Bringing Nature to the Classroom

SkootEco, has joined forces with Addison Lee and Earthwatch Europe to transform urban school grounds into thriving green spaces. With support from the Royal Horticultural Society and the Natural History Museum, this initiative will bring nature into the daily lives of children at two London schools.

A Commitment to Green Earth Schools

As part of Earthwatch’s Green Earth Schools programme, the initiative will turn underutilised spaces at Mayflower Primary School in Poplar, Tower Hamlets, and St Monica’s Roman Catholic Primary School in Hackney into vibrant, nature-rich environments. These outdoor spaces will serve as learning hubs, inspiring environmental leadership and fostering a lifelong connection with nature.

“Helping create thriving green spaces in urban schools is incredibly impactful. Sustainability starts with education and access. By providing these green environments, we’re not only improving children’s immediate surroundings but also planting seeds for a more sustainable future.”
— Dr Naomi Marden, Head of Operations at SkootEco

The Power of Collaboration

This transformative initiative is made possible through a collective effort:

  • SkootEco brings its expertise in sustainability consultancy to support the initiative.
  • Addison Lee contributes resources and commitment to greener urban spaces.
  • Earthwatch Europe leads the Green Earth Schools programme, empowering students and teachers to create and maintain nature-rich areas.
  • National Education Nature Park provides critical funding, with the Natural History Museum and the Royal Horticultural Society supporting the programme.

Creating Long-Term Impact

The Green Earth Schools programme does more than enhance school grounds. It equips teachers with the knowledge and skills to integrate outdoor learning into their curriculum, fostering solution-focused thinking in students. The initiative prioritises urban schools, where access to green spaces is most limited, ensuring that nature becomes a daily part of education.
