Solar Power in Rajasthan

The purpose of this project is to generate electricity by utilising clean solar energy and to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, which otherwise would have been emitted by the existing fossil fuel-based power plants connected to the NEWNE grid in India. The project activity is expected to reduce on average 34,261 tonnes of CO2 per year.

Rajasthan is located in North-West India and is the largest Indian state by area and the seventh largest by population. It is on India's northwestern side, where it comprises most of the wide and inhospitable Thar Desert, hence why Rajasthan is an ideal location for solar power farms.

This Gold Standard certified project involves the installation of a 20 megawatt solar power project in Rajasthan, northern India. This will generate clean, renewable electricity that will then be exported to the Indian electricity grid.

This project will displace 35,951 megawatts per year of electricity from the grid that would otherwise be generated by fossil-fuel based power plants. Therefore it will avoid 35,149 tonnes of CO2e per annum.

The implementation of this solar energy project will also provide job opportunities for local people, during erection, commissioning and maintenance of the solar plant. The electricity supply in the nearby area will also be improved which directly and indirectly improves the economy and lifestyle of the area.

Cambodia National Biodigester Programme

Domestic biodigesters provide a way for individual households with livestock to reduce their dependence on polluting firewood and expensive fossil fuels for cooking and lighting. The project also provides additional benefits with the bio-slurry providing a great means for fertilising and improving local agricultural production.
