Executive Summary
2022 marks a transformative year for SkootEco as we successfully complete our strategic pivot from a carpooling business to an ESG-focused platform dedicated to helping businesses and individuals in their journey to net zero. This pivot, necessitated by the challenges of COVID-19, allows us to leverage our environmental expertise while addressing the growing demand for corporate sustainability solutions.
Among our proudest achievements this year is securing B Corp certification in January 2022, followed by recognition in the top 5% of B Corps worldwide for governance and transparency, reinforcing our commitment to the highest standards of social and environmental performance.
We have also been recognised as finalists in the Barclays Award and Silicon Valley Scale-Up 22, validating our new strategic direction.
Despite operating with a modest environmental footprint of 26.24 tCO₂e (1.46 tCO₂e per employee), our environmental impact extends far beyond our operations through our core services, facilitating the planting of 333,202 trees and investing in 5,000 tonnes of carbon credits through renewable wind energy projects.
With an international team of 18 employees working remotely across Europe, South America, and Asia, we embrace diversity and inclusion while maintaining zero gender-based pay gaps and promoting female leadership within our organisation.
This inaugural sustainability report outlines our achievements, challenges, and future commitments as we continue our mission to democratise access to climate action and support businesses on their sustainability journey.
1. About SkootEco
1.1 Company Profile
Business Overview
Founded in 2019 as Skootride.com, we began as a carpooling business focused on planting trees for each ride completed through our app. The unprecedented challenges presented by COVID-19 in 2020-2021 required us to pivot our business model, resulting in our strategic transformation in 2022, including rebranding as Skoot Eco Group or simply "SKOOT."
While we secured two patents for ride-sharing and lift-ordering technology, market conditions highlighted the need for a broader sustainability solution. This led to our transition from mobility services to a comprehensive ESG platform, aligning with the growing demand for corporate sustainability and carbon reduction initiatives.
2022 marks the official beginning of our new identity as an ESG-focused platform, dedicated to assisting businesses and individuals in achieving their sustainability goals and progressing towards net-zero emissions. As a certified B Corporation since January 2022, we offer a range of tailored services designed to integrate sustainability into various sectors, transforming environmental challenges into growth opportunities.
